Court hears challenge to child abuse registry
Mildred Jamison says a state child abuse law is mostly to blame for the demise of Faith House, a group home in St. Louis she founded in 1991 for abused and neglected children. Jamison - who has accepted numerous civic honors for her work - said her reputation was tarnished when she was placed on Missouri's child abuse registry in 2003. As she's fought to get her name off the list, Faith House has closed. Jamison and another nurse at Faith House were suspected of failing to supervise a child who allegedly sexually abused another child at the group home. Jamison was not charged with a crime. A citizen review panel has refused to take Jamison off the abuse registry. .
