Federal law will stop child abuse
Abu Dhabi: The UAE will soon issue a federal law to combat human trafficking as part of efforts to protect children against all forms of exploitation, including working as camel jockeys. "A Federal Anti-Human Trafficking Law would see the light in the next few days," said Colonel Najm Abdullah Al Hosani, director of the Community Police Department. He was addressing a two-day review meeting involving child protection experts and government representatives from the UAE, Bangladesh, Mauritania, Pakistan and Sudan, who evaluated achievements and gaps in efforts over the past 12 months to support and reintegrate children involved in camel racing. Camel racing Al Hosani said that the UAE has succeeded in stopping the practice of employing children as camel jockeys.
